Become a Peer Educator!

Do you enjoy helping others? Are you interested in health and wellness?
Team giving each other helping hands to get up a mountain

The Health and Wellness Promotion Committee through the Division of Student Life is searching for dedicated students to become Peer Educators. Peer Educators are students that serve as leaders and role models to fellow students regarding making responsible and healthy lifestyle choices. Peer Educators assist with programming and outreach to educate students about relevant issues related to health and wellness that affect our campus community. Relevant topics include alcohol awareness, sexual assault prevention, nutrition, physical activity, safer sex and sexual health, and much more!

Some benefits of becoming a Peer Educator include getting involved on campus while helping others and improving the IUPUI community. Peer Educators receive training, leadership development, and become nationally certified as Peer Educators.

If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Emily Werner at wernere@iupui.edu or call (317) 274-9355. Applications are currently being accepted.

Blow Bubbles, Not Smoke

Are you ready to quit smoking! IUPUI is celebrating the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout on Thursday November 15th by encouraging smokers to use the date to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking that day. By doing so, smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life-one that can lead to reducing cancer and other health risks. Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the US, yet more than 46 million Americans still smoke.

Need help or advice on how to quit smoking for good? There will be various events during the week of Nov. 12th including Great American Smokeout informational tables in the Campus Center on Tuesday (11am-1pm), Wednesday (11am-1pm), and Thursday (11am-3pm). Pick up your free quit kit at either an informational table. Also look out for students Blowing Bubbles, Not Smoke on Thursday for neat giveaways.
