SUPER BOWL XLVI

If you are living under or rock, you may not know that Super Bowl XLVI is taking place in Indianapolis on the Sunday February 5th. But the "SUPER" Party starts much earlier. Many activities including the Super Bowl Village and the NFL Experience kicks of this weekend - on Friday January 26th.

But did you also know that the Super Bowl, like other large sporting events, can be dangerous. There is important information you should know about the Super Bowl before you head downtown to keep yourself and your friends safe!
  • Alcohol related arrests increase during the Super Bowl.
  • A large number of alcohol related car crashes and fatalities usually happen during Super Bowl weekend.
  • "The Super Bowl is one of the biggest human trafficking events in the United States." (TX Attorney General)
  • The risk for sexual assault is greater during large sporting events.
So what should you do to STAY SAFE?
  • Go with a group of friends AND return with a group of friends.
  • Let people know where you may be going if you are traveling alone.
  • Leave valuables at home. (Large events are key places for pickpocketing)
  • Leave large amounts of cash at home.
  • Be smart when going off with new people you meet. You just met them and may not know them as well as you would like.
  • Human trafficking can be an issue at these events, please BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AT ALL TIMES.
  • Report anything that apears suspicious to the police immediately.
  • Remember that you are a part of a community
